I am convinced of buying a Kindle, but the problem is which one? I want to be able to read PDFs on it as well as books. And from what I’ve read, the DX is the one for PDFs.
How does the Kindle 2 do with converting PDFs? Have you had problems with it?

Ni hao Jimmie,
My hubby got me the Kindle2 for Christmas and I love it. Now I can take a huge list of books with me wherever we go. The Kindle2 also works internationally (something I understand the first generation Kindle did not do). As far as pdf’s, the way I understand it, you email the pdf’s you want to your kindle email address and for a “small fee” they convert it to a Kindle-readable format and send it to your device. If you want to avoid the “small fee” (I don’t know how much it is as I have not gone there yet), you read the converted files on your computer, which pretty much defeats the purpose in my mind. The Kindle2 is also smaller than the DX version. I love the 6″ size and think the 9″ would be too big. My Kindle2 fits in my handbag and is easy to hold and use in one hand. I hope my 2-cents helps a little.
Blessings,
Karen H.

The other alternate is to download the mobipocket book creator (http://www.mobipocket.com/en/downloadSoft/ProductDetailsCreator.asp) and convert the PDF to PRC file and then simply cut and paste your book after you connect your Kindle to your PC. It works great but it works only for English Language Books.
