Site Help!

Below are answers to some frequently asked technical questions related to this site. Please try and find answers here before contacting the Web site Support team.

How do I subscribe to the Blog?

I want to receive notice of new entriesin my emails.

Enter your email address in the upper corner of the blog. This is a feedblitz service. Follow the instructions and you will receive an email notice of the blog entry.

What is an RSS Feed?

Robin's blog is available as an RSS feed. If you prefer RSS over getting email notifications follow these directions.

  • RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication and Rich Site Summary. RSS is an XML-based format for content distribution.
  • An RSS feed saves you time. Instead of checking our site to stay on top of the latest Heart of Wisdom news, our RSS feed brings the news directly to you. You no longer need to visit the site itself to stay up-to-date on what's being discussed. You may not want to visit our site every day. Subscribe to the RSS feed, though, and your RSS Reader will do all the work, showing you only what's new since the last time you've checked the RSS feed. And that's the real value of RSS: to be able to stay current with dozens or even hundreds of Web sites, quickly and efficiently.
  • In order to read an RSS feed, you'll need an RSS reader. There are many free Web-based RSS readers available, or you can download RSS reading software.
  • Web-based RSS readers include: My Yahoo!, Goggle Homepage, Newsgator, Bloglines, Pluck. RSS Software includes: Feed Demon, Thunderbird, Newsgator

1.) Download a News Aggregator / RSS Reader

2.) Locate the web address (url) of the RSS feed (XML file) that you wish to subscribe.

A news aggregator or RSS reader is a software application that collects and displays news headlines and summaries from sources that you have designated. An RSS feed is an XML document that contains the news headlines and summaries.

3.) Install the feed reader or news aggregator on the computer

4.) Insert the url of the news feed (there is usually an "add feed" button)

5.) Many of the news readers will allow you to set the interval that the software will look for a feed update others simply update daily.

6.) The information in the feed will be updated when the feed contains new content

Password/Login

My password is not accepted.

  • The Heart of Wisdom Store and Homeschool Message Board and the Hebrew Message Boards systems use different databases. These systems are NOT synchronized for security reasons. Eg. You cannot use your message board login at the Store, and visa versa! You must sign up or register in the store or message board separately.
  • One of the most common problems regarding a password not being accepted is the similarity between certain numerals and characters, eg. '1' and 'l', or '0' and 'O'. Make sure you are not switching these characters by mistake.
  • If your login problem is not related to the above, click on the "Forgot your password?" link. Your existing password will be sent to you current registered email address.

Not Receiving Heart of Wisdom Email

I registered at Heart of Wisdom by I have not received email newsletters.

  • Are you using a challenge-response Junk Mail/SPAM filtering? Challenge-response (CR) is the generic name for a spam blocking technique that requires a potential correspondent to reply to an email message or go to a web site and verify that they're 'human' before you accept mail from them. Our bulk-email system does not respond to such "challenge" emails. If you use such a system, you have to authorize ffoz.org before you will receive our emails. There are numerous ISP's and other companies which use these systems, like SpamArrest, ZoneAlarm, or ISPs like EarthLink.
  • Have you added support@heartofwisdom.com to your address book? Online email providers, like AOL, MSN/Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail, prefer that you add legitimate senders in your online address book, or legitimate emails might be classified as Junk mail.

Email Address Changes

I changed my email address.

  • You can update your email address by changing your profile at homeschool-books.com.

Opening or Viewing Adobe PDF Files

I cannot read the Sample pages or Ebooks.

We offer many PDF files on this web site. PDF files are particularly useful when we want to show you information in a particular format, as with registration forms and printed publications. These files vary in size. Even so, difficulties may occur in downloading and viewing them. There are many possible causes. This information is taken from Adobe, the author of Adobe Reader.

You may need to install Adobe Reader on your computer. Please visit the Adobe web site to download and install this software.

Solution 2

Clear your temporary internet files and try again. PDF files that show up as blank or corrupt, or that freeze your browser, were likely damaged during the download process. In order to fix this, clear your browser's cache, close the browser and make another attempt. If you do not do this, any additional attempts may force your browser to view the cached (and, therefore, damaged) version of the PDF file instead of downloading again from the web server.

Solution 3

  • Try saving the file instead of opening it directly.
  • Left-click on the link to the PDF file (this may appear under Attachment).
  • A dialog box should appear. Choose the option to save the file.
  • Choose a location for the file on your hard disk, such as your Desktop, and save it.
  • Wait for the download to finish.
  • Go to the location that you chose in step 3 and open the file.
