We own a Pyr and love him to death. I'm not sure where you are located but I'm assuming you're somewhere down south with hot weather. The Pyr's heavy double coat can actually help insulate him from the heat as well as the cold. It might take a long time for his hair to grow back properly because they have a dense undercoat. The undercoat will grow out at the same time as the outer guard hairs and it might twist up and mat more easily and actually require more work than a Pyr with a full grown coat.
