I have enjoyed perusing your site. I have a couple questions about training minis to ride.

Is it the same w/ larger horses that they can carry up to 20% of their weight? And at what age do you begin putting weight on their backs? Some people say not before 5 years because they take longer for their knees to close. I am having a hard time finding clear info from the AMHA and mini websites.

You’ve confirmed what I suspected.

I didn’t think that adults could ride minis, but a friend of mine said they could.
I want a mini as a companion for my lonely mare, but they’re so expensive. I wouldn’t want to pay so much money for a horse I couldn’t use when all I want is a companion.

Do you know anyone with an older/unsound mini who is willing to sell for cheap? Klarabell would love a mare to gossip with.

This is the first time I’ve visited your website and WOW! What a huge amount of information, and so interesting! Those miniature horses are incredible. When my kids get up (first day of school vacation is today, so it’s sleep-in time) your site is the first thing I’m going to show them!
