12 Alternative Uses for Coffee Filters

  1. As a food holder. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers tacos, cookies and other messy foods.
  2. Oder eater: Put some baking soda in a coffee filter, tie it at the top with a rubber band or bread tie, and dip it in water.
  3. As a sewing backing. Use a filter as an easy-to-tear backing for embroidering or appliqueing soft fabrics.
  4. As a cover: Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave.
  5. As a lint free windows and mirrors cleaner.
  6. To protect a cast-iron skillet. Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust.
  7. As a shoe polish applier. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter to polish shoes.
  8. To recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter.
  9. To line flowerpots Put a filter inside the pot to stop soil from leaking through the drainage holes on the bottom.
  10. To weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.
  11. To soak grease: Put a few in a plate and put your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them.
