I read a poem in a Mother’s Day Ideals (by Guideposts) once… It was about a “Mean Mom”. It was a thank you poem to her mom for not letting her dress and act and do so many of the things the other girls were doing. She could see, hind-sight, how mean ‘ol mom had kept her from so many pitfalls she has since seen those friends fall into. I’ve really felt mean sometimes, but with my 19 & 10 yoDD’s I can’ honostly say I don’t regret it one bit. That is one of those “Fight the Good fight” issues. Our girls are worth it!

The public school environment certainly does not help, recently took home our 13 yr old daughter and am having to undo so much. But God is faithful and is there to help us.
Robin’s HOW is the best “mom” book I have read and has changed our home. I recommend it to all moms, even if you don’t homeschool. It’s helped me be a better mom to my 6 kids.

I have 3 daughters (21,16,3). Two of these are my step daughters and basically have not been taught how to respect themselves spiritually or physically. I feel my 3 year old is getting the wrong message of what real beauty is. We tell her she is a pretty girl (physically), and we try to teach her what “biblical beauty” is. We have to remember that she is only 3, yet we are already seeing evidence of her older sisters(from my husbands first marriage, they live with their mother) in her behavior and how she is thinking she should act. We have asked the girls not to dress provacitively around her and to no avail, one will show up looking like a “lady of the evening” and the other like a “goth queen”. From the 16 year old, we get “this is how my friends dress”. I told my husband, if we have to move into an apartment and scrimp, I will homeschool her to avoid all of this. I am not all that crazy about our public school system anyhow.
I am really hoping that we can accomplish what our goal is by homeschooling her and not have her think that to get attention she has to dress the way some girls do and act the way they do.

Nice video, but I cannot stand Dove’s printed ads…women (40-60+y/o) photographed NUDE, but covering themselves with their legs and arms?!??? (There’s a new one in every BHG magazine.) I agree with you that the God’s word teaches us TRUE beauty.
