Top 10 Free Homeschool Resources from Discovery Education

his year we subscribed to Discovery Educations Streaming Plus  (over 4,000 full length videos), through the Homeschool Buyers Co-op. I’m please with the videos even though we have lousy Internet connection and a lot of lag time. The videos are worth it. Many have a left flavor but I watch them with my children and point out the left turns.Through this paid subscription I found many free resources through Discovery Education.

Explore the Blue – includes  cross- curricular lesson plans (Science, Social Studies, Math, Language Arts, and Health/Physical Education) that will enhance our aquarium visit or any study on water. The lesson plans feature videos and multimedia tools on conservation, aquatic habitats, the importance of boating and fishing to societies and economies.
  2. Worksheets to Go – great worksheets and activities for teachers to use. Sorted by subject and topic.
  3. Puzzlemaker – create your own puzzles. Create and print customized word search, criss-cross, math puzzles, and more—using your own word lists.
  4. Kathy Schrock’s guide for Educators – Kathy Schrock’s Guide for Educators is a categorized list of sites useful for enhancing curriculum and professional growth. It is updated often to include the best sites for teaching and learning
  5. Discovery Education Lesson Plans – – lesson plans for all different subjects written by teachers for teachers. Here you will find hundreds of original lesson plans for elementary, middle and high school students. Use them as they are or modify them to create your own.
