Marriage Monday: Honor Your Husband

30 Day Honor Your Husband Challenge
My husband, my hero is a shining example of Eph 5:25 Love your wife as Christ loved the church. Give yourself up for your wife. Christ loved the Church by sacrificing himself for her, by his passion, death and resurrection. The implication is that husbands should die for their wives if necessary. I have no doubt that my husband would die for me in an instant–there would be no thought–it would be an innate immediate action because it is part of his character and his devotion to me.
Ronnie has comforted and encouraged me moment by moment trying to anticipate my emotional needs during this family crisis. It has brought us very close. I can’t walk by him without a quick hug of gratitude.
He is my rock and his encouraging words were the only reason I allowed them to take me into the OR last Friday. He watched me in ICU looking “worse than someone in a coffin” (his words), he watched them remove the breathing tubes and me struggle to breath as they had to put them back in, he spent hours on the phone with each of our out-of-state children (watching every word as not to upset them), he ran back and forth from the hospital several times each day, he slept each night with our little boys comforting them as they cried for mommy, he brought me flowers, and a giant fluffy teddy bear. He made corny jokes when he knew I needed to laugh.
Then he brought me home. He is doing everything around here since I’m unable to lift anything. Every time I sit down he is there with pillows and blankets trying to make me comfortable, bringing me food and drink on TV trays. He stroked my hair and held a wet towel to my neck as I vomited; he reminds me to take my medications and temperature. He has taken over all the Heart of Wisdom business and screens every phone call protecting me from stress. He has warned everyone (including our children) not to call our home unless it’s positive news. He is making daily trips to the pharmacy, cooking, cleaning, bathing children, feeding children and horses, running errands, sweeping, and all with never a single word of complaint.
Yes, I do know how blessed I am. Thank you Sweetie, I love you!

There is a prayer in the Jewish prayer book called the Sidur that reads like this:
Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of the universe, Who fashioned man with wisdom and created within him many openings and many cavities. It is obvious and known before Your throne of Glory that if but one of them were to be ruptured or but one of them were to be blocked it would be impossible to survive and to stand before You. Blessed are You, O Lord, Who heals all flesh and acts wondrously.
May Adonai continue to heal you and give you a full recovery.. both in body and spirit.

Robin, my heart is yours.
After reading the comment you left on my Home Schooling Aspergers blog I wanted to whack myself for whinging about a broken heart when you have faced open heart surgery. We may have had a tough week but we are all physically well. Thank you for helping me to remember this.
My best thoughts of recovery and strength are with you.
You are right – People NEED people. What a better world it would be if we all reached out and held the hand of another person in need.

Dear Robin,
I’ve been away for over a week but I did check in once to see that you were due for surgery so you were in my prayers and thoughts. Then we came home and moved house but I managed to check on a public computer to see the progress.

Praise God that you are recovering and doing well…that the Holy SPirit is speaking through you, ministering to others.
Bless you dear friend, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers even if we can’t always touch base via the ‘net.
Hugs,

Robin,
I just clicked over here from Christine’s website and my eyes popped open. “It’s Robin! She wrote my Family Holidays book.”
I am so sorry about your health. The picture that you offer here about your husband serving and being strong while you are weak is beautiful.
I will be praying for your continuing recovery and for your husband as well, you are dear to our family.

What an awesome post Mom! I feel the same way about David. He does EVERYTHING for me. I don’t know what I’d do without him. I love and appreciate him so much but I don’t show it as much as I should.
As the leader of my homeschool group, I offered to email the daily 30 day praying for your husband list from Revive Our Hearts. Each day I will email that day’s objective for prayer.
We are starting Jan 1st and I am still receiving requests to be added to this list! What a response!
