Prepare Ahead: 30 Days of Green Smoothies in Two Hours

Green smoothies are fairly quick and easy, and since I’m having foot surgery on Thursday, I made pre-made packets of fruits and veggies I can just dump into the blender with almond milk and blend.

It took about two hours to prepare kits for a month of green smoothies. I like this idea a lot and will do it again next month.

 

1. Gather ingredients

Gather your fruits, vegetables, and superfoods. I have an amazing Thrifty Produce store near my home.

2. Chop into chunks

3. Pack in freezer baggies

I used gallon-size baggies to pack double portions. Here are some bags half-full with the vegetables.

Then add fruit and label.

I used quart-size baggies to pack vegetables and fruits separately (trying both to see which works better for me).

It is so much easier to eat nutritiously when it is convenient!

My Basic Green Smoothie Recipe

  • 2 cups of vegetables*
  • 2 cups almond or coconut milk
  • 3 cups of ripe fruit
  • 1/4 cup of my super mix (see below)

*Most people use about 2 cups of greens like spinach or kale. I include other vegetables:

  • Spinach or Kale
  • Squash

  • Wheat Grass
  • Cabbage
  • Dandelion Greens
  • Celery
  • Cauliflower
  • English Cucumber
