Hi Robin, this may just fall under “personal conviction”, but I am uncomfortable with this type of book. The other one I am thinking about that I just got rid of was one I read for years by Frances Roberts, Come Away My Beloved?? I think. I became convicted that if I am going to read Jesus’ words they need to be the ones in the bible. I do not doubt the authors sincerity and hearing the voice of God, He speaks to me in a similar way, Spirit to spirit, but I think it becomes dangerous to in any way be borderlining on adding to the Word of God. I agree the topics themselves are scriptural, but they are not scripture.

I don’t normally speak up on such things, but I am genuinely concerned as I am reading about this book all over blogworld. I see many people getting comfort from it and taking it as ‘thus saith the Lord’ and this concerns me. True comfort can only be found in Christ and His Word, the written Word of God.

Does this make sense? I am not the best at explaining my convictions. I share this as “my” convictions and in love, hope it is received as such.

Sorry to be so late responding to your comment. I understand you concerns. Thank you for the kind tone expressing your concern. Its critical we are discerning reading or listening to anything, commentaries, pastors, etc.

People twist Scripture, and we can’t keep people from doing that. In the same way, we can’t keep people from being wrong in what they think they heard God say to them, nor what they write that they think they heard God say to them, nor what they may read that others have claimed God said to them. So pray, “eat the meat and spit out the bones.” I really love this book. It doesn’t bother me as much as you because I have been reading ” What Is the Father Like?: A Devotional Look at How God Cares for His Children ” Available used for penny you can look inside at amazon http://ow.ly/5oJjP

I love the message from both of these books:

We must decrease and allow Christ to increase. All of God’s works are towards increasing Christ. Everything God has done, is doing, and will do is related towards revealing His Son and bringing us to Him.
