Help Expose the Secret!
Last week I wrote on the dangers of The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, a New Age self-help book on the law of attraction which remains on the best-seller list at Amazon and the New York Times.
One way to fight the effects of this heresy is to get the information out. It’s easy and quick and may save someone from traveling a dangerous road.
1. Visit some of the links that expose The Secret (see below).
2. Use popular social bookmark sites like del.icio.us and Digg.
3. Tag with keywords The Secret, Rhonda Byrne, antisecret, heresy, etc. (For more on tagging see folksonomy). If you use del.icio.us, leave out commas. Copy and paste these keywords:
The Secret the secret Rhonda Byrne antisecret heresy Bible Christian view
4. Send the link to this page to other concerned Christians.
5. If you feel led to do more, make a Google Alert for The Secret, Rhonda Byrne and Bible. Then visit and bookmark every article exposing The Secret to get the word out. Read my post on creating a Google Alert here.
What is Social Bookmarking? How Will it Help?
Social bookmarking is one of the most effective and powerful tools for getting information out. Bookmarks increase search engine rankings by placing the page higher on search engines, thus increasing the chance that people will find the page more quickly and easily.
Each time you bookmark a Christian site you are helping to promote that site (most cannot afford the expensive Google ads). You can read my post on using del.icio.us here.

My del.icio.us links on The Secret - Include the links below and any new links.
These links are updated weekly.
Looking for the Secret? – The Secret is the latest form of New Age positive thinking run amok. Includes a Red Flag list of concerns and quotes from the book. (Heart of Wisdom)
Have You Seen the Secret? -The Bible is full of advice and encouragement to think on good things and not dwell on negativity or worry. But it also says to seek first the Kingdom of God. (Women by Grace)

Self-help Gone Nutty – A craze called ‘The Secret’ blends Tony Robbins with ‘The Da Vinci Code,” telling people to have it all without trying. (The Los Angeles Times)
Byrne’s Secret Isn’t the Answer to Life – The Secret is said to work for anyone, no matter what their religious beliefs or practices. The worldview assumed by the promoters of The Secret is absolutely contradictory to the Christian worldview. (Answers in Action)

Self-Help’s Slimy ‘Secret’ – It’s the publishing phenomenon of the year so far, a small book with a parchment-brown cover engraved with the image of a red wax seal. (The Washington Post)
Oprah’s Ugly Secret – By continuing to hawk “The Secret,” a mishmash of offensive self-help clichés, Oprah Winfrey is squandering her goodwill and influence, and preaching to the world that mammon is queen. (Salon)
How neat would it be to find the book falls off the best-seller list because Christians warned people of the dangers?! Take a minute to pray and bookmark a few sites.

Hello,
My name is Caroline; I’m with a media production company in Baltimore and I thought folks who were disappointed in The Secret might be more interested in our blog.
The Euphoria Stream is a video blog made by Lee Boot, who asks the question: In a country built for the pursuit of happiness, is it working? Are you happy? It’s a new sort of art-documentary about what makes you (personally) happy. We’re trying something new, and we hope it’s thought-provoking and meaningful. Anyway, if you have a minute, check out The Euphoria Stream (and if you are feeling so moved, it would be great if you would leave a comment on the site telling us what you think!)
