Fruit of the Spirit Friday

Fruit of the Spirit Friday

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Copy the code in the box to add the image and link to your blog.

Jesus Said, “A tree is judged by its fruit.”

The fruit of the Spirit is a wonderful study for Christians at any level of spiritual maturity. For Fruit of the Spirit Friday you can write any post focusing on one of the fruits or answer these prompts:

  1. What fruit are you focusing on this fruit this week?
  2. How does the Bible define this fruit?
  3. How does God reveal this fruit to us?
  4. What is the evidence of this fruit in one’s life?
  5. Share an example of the presence of this fruit in someone’s life.
  6. How does fruit or lack of it in our life affect others? (spouse, children, friends)
  7. What can you do to express more of this fruit in your character?

Meme Goal

God wants us to bring Him glory and honor. We do this by exhibiting the fruit of His Spirit from abiding in Him. I began this meme because I have personally experienced a deeper walk as a result of journaling as part of my personal Bible study. We all struggle with dying to self daily–we are commanded to share one another’s burdens–I’m hoping the meme will help others focus on God and grow spiritually growth.

Making a mental commitment to write on a fruit of the spirit each week should make you more aware of your spiritual walk and hopefully prompt you to examine the fruit in your life several times during the week. This type self examination is Biblical.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith;
prove your own selves;
know ye not your own selves,
how that Jesus Christ is in you.

2 Cor. 13:5

Praying about your spiritual condition, mulling it around, searching Scripture, and just deciding on a fruit of to write about will put your focus on God and spiritual growth. Journaling (or blogging) internalizes and personalizes the spiritual principles you are learning. Our gaol is not to be heard or gain approval from man — the purpose is to encourage each other and bring honor to God. We do this by Being the Branch

Meme Tips

  • Pray first for guidance and for others joining this meme.
  • Examine fruit in your life daily. Don’t wait for Friday to think of a fruit.
  • Watch for prompting from God’s Spirit during Bible study time, daily routines, etc during the week
  • Keep a note pad to jot down verses or thoughts or keep thoughts in your blog entry in draft mode.
  • Write about one fruit on Friday or about a person who exhibits fruit or answer the prompts abpve.
  • Late post are completely acceptable–we’re all busy. Post whenever you can.
  • Tag at least two people to do the same.
  • Write as much or little as you feel led to write–one verse or one thought is participation.
  • Share your link on the current Friday blog entry on this blog. (not your blog URL , but the link to the direct post–I will try to post my entry by Friday morning)
  • Feel free to use the image above and link back to this page.
  • If you don’t have a blog you can post your journaling in the comments section of the current Friday entry.

More Prompts

What fruits do you struggle with? What verses focus on that fruit? What fruits do you see in your children? What fruits would you like to see more in your children? What do you do to develop fruit? How do you define each fruit? Who is someone you know that demonstrates fruit of God’s spirit? What drew you to that person? What are the fruits you see in Bible people? What Bible people were lacking in fruit but changed? What changed them? How does fruit in our life affect our spouse? or children? What is something that hinders fruit? How can we fix it? How do you abide?

Remember fruit does not come from efforts (of legalistic rule-following) but grows naturally (out of trust).

I’m glad I stumbled across this meme. I started last Friday it has been a blessing so I’m going to continue but I haven’t seen any Fruit of the Spirit Friday posts here of late :(

Since this meme isn’t hosted here every single Friday (and to relieve any potential pressure ;) ) could this meme be made available on Mr Linky’s public memes list so anyone who participates can put up a Mr Linky for it? I think it might help it spread and it would still link back here.

    Just a request/suggestion!!

    Dear Robin,
I would like to join in with Fruit of the Spirit Friday and tried to add your image to my blog but for some reason it isn’t coming up. I just thought I would check if there are any changes needed in the html before I think I’m going totally crazy. I have tried a couple of times.
    Blessings,

I was having a hard time adding your Fruit of the Spirit image too, however, I saved it to my computer and then uploaded it to blogger that way. I also was able to link this page to your image by doing it that way too.

    Hope this helps!

I’ll probably write from my personal blog, rather than Grandmother Wren. I’ll be sure to link in next Friday.
