Frugal Fabric for Quilting

Quilting fabric is $10+ a yard. I indulge but I also pick up vintage sheets, pillow cases and dust ruffles at thrift stores to feed my habit frugally.

I just turned several pillow cases into these 2.5″ strips. I have enough for a nice strip lap quilt. I cut the strips with a Big Shot Pro and 2.5″ dies.

I cut off the hem but leave the seams because the Big Shot cuts off the seams for me.

I cut this dust ruffle into  40 2.5 x 45 strips (one Jelly Roll). Not bad for $1.99.

This dust ruffle was was much smaller. 160×11 but I love the colors. Also $1.99.

Speaking of Frugal…

Dress shirts can be used for fabric too. See video below by Bonnie Hunter.
