Thousands of audio books and ebooks are available to download FREE!

Play from your computer or download to a CD or MP3 player. If you want young children to become readers, it is important to instill a love of listening to good stories. Take advantage of these free audio books.

Best Mp3 Player for Audiobooks?

I love the ease and portability of the the MP3 player. I can take it on walks, while working out, while running errands, and during housework. My boys listen to stories and songs while I’m in the doctor’s office.

If you want to download from Overdrive or Netlibrary to an MP3 you have to use a  compatible player. iPods will not download freebies from the libraries.

Once you find a compatible player you need a player that will allow you to manually set multiple bookmarks. Use bookmarks so that you can choose that bookmark later to start listening again from the same spot. If you don’t have this feature you will have to start the book from the beginning after turning it off. This is especially useful for long audio books.

I use the  Creative Zen V Plus 2 GB. It has the bookmarking capabilities and is compatible with Audible and other audio book stores. 2 GB will hold 5 books at a time depending on length.  See more MP3s with bookmarking reviews at Cnet.

    Great info – except not all libraries offer this service! Ours did for about a year, and recently discontinued the service.
