Winter Craft: Coffee Filter Snowflakes

feature photo

My boys have been busy making snowflakes and hanging them all over the walls. It looks nice, like its snowing inside.

This is a super fast, quick, easy and cheap winter craft. See instructions and pattern links below photos.

We first started making the out of printing paper. The snowflakes were great but very hard for little hands to cut. We switched over to coffee filters.

Hard to see them on the wall, but its very pretty. Neighborhood school kids were impressed. :-)

You can also hang them with thread.

I don’t recommend hanging on ceiling fans- my 10 year old had to try it.

Instructions

  1. Flatten coffee filter
  2. Fold it in half
  3. Fold in half again, and continue until you can no longer fold
  4. Cut shapes along the folded edges and  the outside edge of the filter.

How to Video

Try folding the  coffee filters like this guy in the video folds paper (no need to cut before folding when using a coffee filter). He recommends ironing snowflakes when done. IRONING? This is suppose to be fun.

  2. Very pretty! I love to make snowflakes too. Especially since we don’t get much real snow where we live. We have never hung them from the ceiling. We will have to try that.
