Putting all “Where it orginated aside” I can’t wrap my mind around the whole idea. Why would decent parents who have spent years explaining to their kids that is isn’t safe to talk to strangers, take candy from them or walk around in the dark. Then, because it is the papular thing to do, they throw that out the window and with no reason what-so-ever, send their kids to stranger’s homes, dressed up with no purpose go and ask for candy? It doesn’t even begin to make sense. I can buy my kids candy and we can dress up at home or in the company of friends with a purpose connected to it. Can any explain what is the purpose? I hear, “Because it is fun”. I am way too practical to think that that is good enough of a reason to ignore common sense. I dread the day/night, I want it to go away. I wouldn’t mind a harvest time, giving thanks to the Lord for the abundance of provision, why would the require a costume or candy?

You do realize that Halloween is a Christian holiday, right? For all of the wailing and moaning we hear from you people each and every October it is supremely ironic that were it not for the insistence of the Catholic church there would probably be no such thing as Halloween in its current incarnation. The same can be said for Christmas, Easter, and any of the other various pagan celebrations your faith chose to hijack for the sake of fattening its flock. There is nothing evil, demonic, or Satanic about Halloween, or at least there wasn’t until Christians in the last century or so decided to make it a hot button issue. It’s a classical self-fulfilling prophecy…

I got the book “Mommy, Why Don’t We Celebrate Halloween?” to help me with explaining why we don’t “do” halloween. Do you know of any lapbooks or notebooking ideas anywhere that we could do together. We used to “do” halloween until we became Christians and my oldest daughter is so confused now. Thanks

We did dress up and treating for many years. No wicked, scary or demonic costumes were allowed. Then I read how Halloween originated and have since stopped participating at all. I cannot condone a day celebrating the awfulness! Every Christian should read where the day originated, then make a prayerful decision.

Too many follow paganism and try to sugar coat it! Look at the history-Look at the facts! Don’t think of anything that is not from GOD to be innocent or good clean fun! God is LIFE – ever lasting LIFE! To celebrate Halloween or even a, watered down form of it, HARVEST/FALL FESTIVAL is to worship an IDOL! Tho Shalt have NO other god’s before me! If you’re not worshiping the Lord Almighty then you’re worshiping another god! Choose either LIFE or DEATH!!
