		<description>Thanks for helping spread the awareness!! I wrote about this on my blog too as soon as I became aware of it. It just makes me furious how the author is trying to intentionally deceive parents with the movie by leaving out the worst stuff so that they will let their children read the books.</description>

		<description>Scholatic, Inc., is marketing the movie and books to schools, with the intent that schools would do that, which is outrageous in itself. Whether it actually does become required material, though, will depend on each individual school&#039;s or teacher&#039;s decision.

&lt;i&gt;The Golden Compass&lt;/i&gt; is the only book they are marketing directly, with curriculum resources, to be used as required reading in classrooms. (Of course, if they promote the first book successfully they have also promoted the second and third successfully, and they still get paid for whatever a student buys.)</description>
