Golden Compass Points Children to Atheism
Golden Compass Points Children to Atheism
In case you missed the original post about this wolf in sheep’s clothing, I am posting it again with an informative video and links in time for the release of the Golden Compass movie.
If you thought sorcery books and movies like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings were controversial, wait until you see the hoopla from The Golden Compass. This dangerous movie opens December 7, 2007.
Warn Your Church
The Golden Compass is the first book in Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy. The movie stars Nicole Kidman.
It being released during the holiday season to promote the blatantly anti-Biblical books (much worse than the movie). The book series, geared toward children, portrays the Christian God as a frail, vindictive, and authoritarian figure growing senile and needing to be replaced to reestablish the authority of the kingdom of heaven throughout all the parallel universes.
These books could become mandatory reading in the public school systems. Scholastic, Inc., is marketing the movie and books to schools with curriculum materials. Read more at Thinking Christian.
Synopsis: The action follows 11-year-old protagonist Lyra Belacqua, accompanied by her demon, from her home at Oxford University to the frozen wastes of the North, on a quest to save kidnapped children from the evil ‘Gobblers,’ who are using them as part of a sinister experiment. Lyra also must rescue her father from the Panserbjorne, a race of talking, armored, mercenary polar bears holding him captive. Joining Lyra are a vagabond troop of gyptians (gypsies), witches, an outcast bear, and a Texan in a hot air balloon.
Christians are urged to stay away from the books and movie. The objective of so-called classics, His Dark Materials Trilogy (The Golden Compass; The Subtle Knife; The Amber Spyglass) is to bash Christianity and promote atheism to kids.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Phil 4:8).

To Those Defending the Golden Compass
For those who think this movie is no big deal my answer is the same as Jay from Froodee: “It’s up to you, parents. Whether you want your children to believe that atheism is good and religion is evil, that’s up to you.”

Comment by Tom Gilson :
Scholatic, Inc., is marketing the movie and books to schools, with the intent that schools would do that, which is outrageous in itself. Whether it actually does become required material, though, will depend on each individual school’s or teacher’s decision.
The Golden Compass is the only book they are marketing directly, with curriculum resources, to be used as required reading in classrooms. (Of course, if they promote the first book successfully they have also promoted the second and third successfully, and they still get paid for whatever a student buys.)

Thanks for helping spread the awareness!! I wrote about this on my blog too as soon as I became aware of it. It just makes me furious how the author is trying to intentionally deceive parents with the movie by leaving out the worst stuff so that they will let their children read the books.
