Health Update

I went for my second iron infusion yesterday. This is me at the oncologist (boy, I’ve really aged this year). My blood levels are exactly the same, no improvement. So I’m going to be admitted into the Murfreesboro hospital today for a blood transfusion. I did not want a blood transfusion (for obvious reasons).

I’m asking you all to pray I receive clean blood. Jesus turned water to wine; He can turn tainted blood into clean blood. I should feel much better after this procedure. Thanks for your prayers.

For those just now hearing about this, here is a

Timeline of Events

July 6, 2007 Open Heart Surgery: Open heart surgery (double coronary bypass graft or CABG). Major blockage in left coronary artery.

July 21, 2007: Complications developed, hospitalized again treated for fluid in the lungs, fluid in the heart lining.

November 2007 - Feb 2008: Moved from VA to TN. Lots of stress and family issues. Erratic heart problems (low BP, bigemini, chest pain, shortness of breath) hospitalized a few times, no problems found. Very frustrating.

March 2008: New cardiologist. New test reveal the reasons for problems from the last few months. One of the two veins from the July heart surgery collapsed, second heart surgery required (two stints in left main artery).

April 2008: Recovery from 2nd surgery slow. Iron infusions needed due to extreme blood loss from to heart meds and womanly cycle (lost over 2 units of blood).

Today: Waiting on God: For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and will bring you back from captivity’ (Jeremiah 29:11-14a).

Lord, I Have a Problem

Father, I have a problem.
It’s weighing heavy on me.
It’s all I can think about,
night and day.

Before I bring it to you in prayer.
I suppose I should pray for those
who are less fortunate than me–
Those in this world who have
hardly enough food for this day,
and for those who don’t have
a roof over their heads at night.

I also pray for families
who have lost loved ones
in sudden death,
for parents whose children
have leukemia,
for the many people who are
dying of brain tumors,
for the hundreds of thousands
who are laid waste with
other terrible cancers,
for people whose bodies
have been suddenly
shattered in car wrecks,
for those who are lying
in the hospital with agonizing
burns over their bodies,
whose faces have been
burned beyond recognition.

I pray for people with emphysema,
whose eyes fill with terror
as they struggle for every
breath merely to live,
for those who are tormented
beyond words by irrational fears,
for the elderly who are wracked
with the pains of aging,
whose only “escape” is death.

I pray for people who are watching
their loved ones fade before their eyes
through the grief of Alzheimer’s disease,
for the many thousands
who are suffering
the agony of AIDS,
for those who are in such despair
they are about to commit suicide,
for people who are tormented
by the demons of
alcoholism and drug addiction.

I pray for children
who have been abandoned
by their parents,
for those who are sexually abused,
for wives held in quiet despair,

beaten and abused by
cruel and drunken husbands,
for people whose minds
have been destroyed
by mental disorders,
for those who have lost everything
in floods, tornadoes,
hurricanes, and earthquakes.

I pray for the blind,
who never see the faces
of the ones they love,
or the beauty of a sunrise,
for those whose bodies are
horribly deformed by painful arthritis, for the many whose lives
will be taken from them today
by murderers,
for those wasting away
on their death beds.

Most of all,
I cry out for the millions
who don’t know the forgiveness
that is in Jesus Christ…
for those who in a moment of time
will be swept into Hell
by the cold hand of death,
and find to their utter
horror the unspeakable
vengeance of eternal fire.
They will be eternally damned
to everlasting punishment.

Oh God, I pray for them.Strange…I can’t seem to remember
what my problem was,,,,,,
In Jesus’ name I pray…Amen!

Thank you Dolores for sharing this beautiful prayer with me this morning.

Thank you dear friends for praying for my health. The worst part about the physical exhaustion is being weak through spiritual battles.

I received the first of 8 iron infusions this week. I look forward to a dramatic improvement over the next 8 weeks–physically and spiritually. I’d appreciate your continued prayers.

Explaining My Blogging Absence

Recently I’ve taken a break from blogging. I’m still dealing with health issues.

Our Passover was something. Our close friends Louis and Ibeth and their family of 5 drove down from VA to spend Passover with us. Passover morning they received a call Louis’ mother was killed in an auto accident. They left immediately to FL to be with family. Please pray for the Alvarez family.

Before the tragic call, I had to go to the ER. My BP, pulse and blood levels got dangerously low, so I spent Passover in the hospital.

I’ve been battling severe anemia for some time which affects my heart condition. Blood thinner meds (Plavix) and women’s cycles don’t mix well. Due to my second heart surgery (heart stents) the Plavix is necessary. Praise God I didn’t have to have another blood transfusion.

I’m exhausted from the anemia and still dealing with some new heart issues  as well as getting used to all the meds. I’ve been to the OBGYN, cardiologist and hematologist trying to get back to normal. I won’t bore you with details. I know you all understand my limited energy has to go to my family.

All things work together for the good. Please excuse my absence. I miss blogging fellowship and visiting you all. I look forward to getting back to normal. God bless.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. -James 1:2-5
